Burger Box is the classic one-piece clamshell: a base with four walls, and a lid hinged on the back wall that closes over the top and locks with a tuck flap into a slit on the front wall. This generator draws the complete blank — base, walls, corner glue tabs, lid with side skirts and the locking flap with a thumb notch — sized to your burger, sandwich or meal. Enter the base size and wall height, and the whole clamshell is laid out for you.
This generator makes a one-piece burger box (clamshell) dieline: a base and a hinged lid cut from a single sheet. Enter your size and download the dieline free as PDF or SVG.
A burger box is a hinged food carton: the bottom half holds the food, the lid folds over it on a back hinge, and a small flap on the lid tucks into a slit on the front wall to keep it shut. It is the standard pack for burgers, sandwiches, toasties and small meals because it opens fast on the line, stacks flat before use, and needs no separate lid to stock or lose.
The structure here is a single blank. The base panel carries front, back and side walls; the side walls have corner tabs that glue to the front and back walls. The lid is the same size as the base, hinged on the back wall, with shallow skirts on its sides that wrap the walls when closed, and a stepped tuck flap with a thumb notch that locks into the front slit.
A is the base length, B is the base depth and H is the wall height. Measure the food, not the bun alone: leave a little room around it so the lid closes without pressing.
| Size (A × B × H) | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 4.1 × 4.1 × 1.8 in (105 × 105 × 45 mm) | Classic single burger |
| 4.7 × 4.7 × 2.0 in (120 × 120 × 50 mm) | Large burger or toasted sandwich |
| 5.5 × 5.5 × 2.4 in (140 × 140 × 60 mm) | Double burger or burger with toppings |
| 6.3 × 4.7 × 2.0 in (160 × 120 × 50 mm) | Club sandwich or small meal |
Glue only the four corner tabs; the clamshell itself closes mechanically. Keep artwork off the corner tabs and the slit area, and put your logo on the lid panel — it is the face every customer sees. For greasy food, use a grease-resistant board or a liner; a standard board will mark within minutes.
In the exported file, red is the cut line, green dashed is a fold and blue dotted is a perforation. Print at 100 percent scale and test with real food before a production run: steam from hot food softens board, so a box that fits cold should still close when the burger is hot.
How does the burger box close?
The lid folds over on its back hinge and its front flap tucks into a slit cut in the front wall. The thumb notch on the flap makes it easy to open again. No tape or extra lid is needed.
Do I need glue for this box?
Only on the four corner tabs that join the side walls to the front and back walls. The clamshell closure itself is mechanical.
What size should I choose for a standard burger?
A base of about 105–120 mm square with 45–50 mm walls fits most single burgers. Measure your tallest burger and add a few millimetres of wall height so the lid does not press it.
Is this burger box dieline generator free?
